Thank you. We have it.
Your registration or application has reached the AIC editorial office, along with any files you uploaded. Nothing further is required from you right now. This page covers both routes: contributor accounts and editorial role applications.

If You Registered a Contributor Account

  1. Confirm your email, within minutes. A link arrives at the address you gave. The account does nothing until you click it. If it has not arrived in fifteen minutes, check your spam folder before writing to us.
  2. If you are under 18, we write to your named adult. This happens before anything else, and the account stays inactive until they reply. Tell them to expect it.
  3. Screening, within two working days. We apply the five published checks: identity, standing, endorsement, declarations and rate. Most accounts clear without anyone contacting you.
  4. Endorsement, if you need it. We contact the endorser you named, or assign one if you asked us to. This is the only step that routinely takes longer than two days, and we will tell you if it does.
  5. Your contributor reference arrives by email, in the form AIC-C.YYMM.NNNN. Quote it in the first field of every submission form.

Queries about an account go to submissions@caribbeanaijournal.org.

If You Applied for an Editorial Role

  1. Acknowledgement and a reference, within 3 business days. Quote the reference in any correspondence about your application.
  2. Eligibility and documents check, within 10 business days. We read your CV, your publication list and your statements against the three eligibility criteria, and note any competing interests you declared.
  3. The review exercise, for shortlisted applicants. One anonymised manuscript in your codes, one short reviewer report, a two-week deadline. Every applicant gets the same exercise.
  4. A conversation with the Editor-in-Chief, forty-five minutes online, scheduled around your time zone.
  5. A decision, either way. Unsuccessful applications receive a reason and, where it applies, an offer of a place in the reviewer pool. That offer is genuine and is how most section editors start.

Queries about an application go to editor@caribbeanaijournal.org.

If You Are Under 18, or You Are the Named Adult

An email is on its way to the adult named on the form. It explains what the journal is, what taking part involves, and what happens to the young person's data, and it asks for a reply confirming consent. Nothing proceeds until that reply arrives, and no editor contacts the young person directly at any stage. The safeguarding policy sets out exactly what we will and will not do, and either of you may withdraw consent at any time by writing to students@caribbeanaijournal.org.

Your Data

What you have just sent is held to run the journal and for nothing else. It is never sold, rented or passed to a marketing platform. Unsuccessful applications are deleted after twelve months, or immediately on request. Registrations that never lead to a submission are deleted after twenty-four months. The full schedule is in the retention table, and you can ask to see, correct, export or erase your record at any time at dataprotection@caribbeanaijournal.org.

Corrections and Withdrawals

To correct a detail, replace an uploaded file, or withdraw what you have sent, email the address above rather than submitting the form again. Duplicate submissions slow the queue down and make it harder to tell which version is current.
