Secondary school, sixth form and undergraduate authors aged 13 and over. Mentored review, written feedback on every submission, mentor countersigns.

Manuscript Submission

Upload your manuscript directly to the editorial office. Every field marked required must be completed before the form will submit. Read the author guidelines and the submission checklist first, because manuscripts that are not anonymised are returned without review.

Word limits for each type are listed under Manuscript Types.

The inaugural edition closes 14 September 2026. The call for Issue 2 opens in October 2026.

This decides which reviewers are approached. Choose what a specialist would recognize.

Up to three, separated by commas, from either axis.

Write "Independent researcher" if you have none. It is not held against you.

Where you are based, which may be outside the region.

The Caribbean nation or territory you are from, or the one your work is grounded in. Choose Other if none applies.

Use this if you selected Other, or to name a second nation the work covers.

Sixteen digits in four groups, as printed on your ORCID record.

Names separated by semicolons. Full details go on the title page.

200 to 300 words. Structure empirical papers as Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions.

Four to eight keywords, separated by commas.

Two or three sentences on what makes this work regionally grounded. This is the first thing desk review checks.

If a preprint exists anywhere, quote its identifier. Posting one never counts against a submission.

.docx or .pdf, up to 8 MB. All author-identifying information removed.

A separate file: title, all authors, affiliations, ORCID iDs, and a 100-word biography each.

Data, code, highlights or figures, up to 8 MB. For anything larger, link to a public repository in your cover note.

Significance of the work, links to data or code repositories, and any reviewers you wish to exclude, with reasons.

Email Submission

The online form is the preferred route. If your files exceed the 8 MB upload limit, or you would rather submit by email, send your manuscript to submissions@caribbeanaijournal.org with the subject line: Manuscript Submission, [Short Paper Title]

Your email must include the following attachments:

  1. Title page, separate file: full paper title, all author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs where available, corresponding author email, and a 100-word biography for each author.
  2. Anonymised manuscript, separate file: the full paper with all author-identifying information removed, including institutional affiliations in the text, self-citations written in the third person, and acknowledgements deferred until after acceptance.
  3. Subject and method codes: your proposed primary subject code, primary method tag, and any cross-lists, quoted in the email body.
  4. Highlights, optional, up to five bullets: key findings or contributions, suitable for display on the journal website.

Submissions may be in .docx or .pdf format. Figures and tables should be embedded in the manuscript file. Data and code may be submitted as supplementary attachments or linked from a public repository.

Word counts exclude the abstract, references, tables and figure captions.

Formatting

  • Font: 12pt Times New Roman or a similar serif face, double spaced
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Abstract: 200 to 300 words, structured as Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions for empirical papers
  • Keywords: four to eight, below the abstract
  • References: APA 7th edition
  • Figures: minimum 300 DPI, labelled sequentially
  • Tables: labelled sequentially, captions above the table body
  • Equations: numbered sequentially, right aligned
  • Page numbers: bottom centre on every page

Submission Checklist

Before submitting, confirm that your manuscript meets all of the following:

  • The work applies machine learning or AI, and is grounded in the Caribbean or comparable small-state conditions
  • A primary subject code and a primary method tag have been chosen from the classification scheme
  • It is not currently under review at another journal
  • All authors meet the ICMJE authorship criteria
  • The title page is a separate file from the anonymised manuscript
  • All author-identifying information is removed from the manuscript
  • The abstract is 200 to 300 words with appropriate structure
  • Four to eight keywords are provided
  • References follow APA 7th edition
  • Any use of AI tools is disclosed in the methods or acknowledgements
  • A data availability statement is included
  • Ethical approval status is disclosed where applicable
  • Competing interests are declared
  • Funding sources are acknowledged

Open Access and Licensing

Everything published in AIC is immediately and permanently open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Authors retain copyright. There are no article processing charges, no submission fees and no charges of any kind, in any of the three tracks. The journal is funded by the Caribbean Artificial Intelligence Association so that cost never decides who gets published.

After Submission

You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt within 3 business days, and the editorial office will confirm whether the manuscript has passed desk review within 5 business days. For the inaugural edition, desk decisions are issued by 28 September 2026 and reviewer reports return to authors by 26 October 2026. See the peer review policy for the full process.
